GameStop to close 120-130 stores as it shifts focus away from games
GameStop is moving into what CEO Paul Raines describes as phase "3.0," which will see the retailer focus on "gaming-adjacent" fields such as smartphones and tablets. This means the chain will be less reliant on video games.
This means that between 120-130 GameStop retail locations will be shuttered. Instead the company aims to open between 200-250 Spring Mobile stores and 20-25 Simply Mac stores.
GameStop currently has 6457 gaming retail locations worldwide, so there will still be plenty of stores in which to pick up your games, if you're a bricks-and-mortar kind of person.
