Vita system software update 3.10 increases app limit, adds voice messaging, more
Vita owners can download a new firmware update today, adding a couple of much-requested features.
According to the PlayStation Blog, system software 3.10 will allow you to display up to 500 app icons on the home screen - a major increase on the 100 previously allowed.
To help you decide what to keep and what to delete, now that you have 500 slots to choose from, Sony has added a content manager for memory cards.
Voice messaging has been added, and as the PS4 also supports this feature, it will be cross-platform compatible.
A new calendar app allows players to create gameplay events and invite friends to share them, and it can be synced with Google Calendar.
Sony has also tweaked the Vita's parental controls, allowing guardians to restrict access to the PS Store or implement age ratings.
Additional smaller new features include the ability to search for music on a connected device; the ability to sort video content by size; automatic photo rotation using the tilt sensor; a new Freeform photo mode; daylight savings automation; and a new 30 minute enter standby setting.
The update should become available when you attempt to connect your Vita to the PlayStation Network, but it may take a few hours to reach all territories once released.
