Guild Wars 2: Origins of Madness detailed by ArenaNet, screenshots released

Guild Wars 2 Origins of Madness details have been announced by ArenaNet, after releasing a teaser video for the update this morning.

According to the developer, Origins of Madness will find players once again pitted against arch-villain Scarlet Briar and her minions. This "sinister sylvari engineer" has worked behind the scenes throughout 2013, and her motivations will finally be revealed as she unleashes a new mechanical monstrosity on the living world of Tyria: the Twisted Marionette.

This gigantic, robotic weapon can only be stopped by a "concerted effort" on the part of players.

As the teaser video reveals, Scarlet’s machinations have also unearthed something "ancient and angry" in Bloodtide Coast, called the Great Jungle Wurm, which is a huge multi-headed creature.

Origins of Maddess is the first of four releases leading up to the end of the current living-world storyline and will be released on January 21.
