Matt Martin joins VG247 as editor
VG247 has named Matt Martin as its new editor, taking over the role of founder Patrick Garratt.
Martin has spent over seven years working on respected trade website GamesIndustry.biz, most recently as european editor. Garratt remains committed to the site, stepping up in his new role as publisher.
"I've been a big fan of VG247 since day one, so it's an honour to finally join one of the most relentlessly hard working teams in video games media," said Martin.
"After the site’s incredible growth last year, it's the right time to push harder to increase the quality and reach of VG247 so it stands in its rightful place - setting the agenda for online games media and championing the vibrancy and success of the games business worldwide. And we're going to have a lot of fun doing it."
Matt can be reached at matt.martin@vg247.com.
In November VG247 recorded record traffic of 3.1 million unique users and 7.6 million page views. This month the site will reveal a brand new redesign as it continues to reflect and set the video game news agenda.
"Bringing Matt into the VG247 editor’s role is a great move for us, and signals the site’s strengthening reach and importance," said publisher Patrick Garratt. "I’m very proud to reach this point with VG247, and am looking forward to working with Matt and the rest of the team on further building our business in 2014."
