Ninja Gaiden sequel in the works at Team Ninja

Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi has confirmed the developer is working on a new entry in the Ninja Gaiden series.

In a video discussion with Comcept boss and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z creator Keiji Inafune, Hayashi said that the existence of Spark Unlimited's title doesn't mean the core series will be neglected.

"Team Ninja is thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden," he said.

"For example, if the games were food, the Ninja Gaiden series would be a rich meaty entree and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z would be dessert.

"Every course of the meal would be in the same Ninja Gaiden world, but gamers will experience different kinds of play. That’s how Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be different."

Inafune commented that Hayashi had "let it out" that Team Ninja is indeed working on a new entry in the action series.

"So to the people waiting for that next Ninja Gaiden, it’s coming," he said.

In the meantime, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late February and early March.
