PS4 "pretty much" sold out at Best Buy in North America
Update: Best Buy has reached out to clarify that this comment referred to one store only.
A Best Buy representative contacted VG247 to issue a correction; the quote originally supplied to Reuters concerned one New York store, not to Best Buy as a whole. The original source article has been corrected in the interim. No comment was offered regarding other stores or Best Buy's PS4 stock in general.
Original article:
Best Buy has sold through most of its PlayStation 4 inventory in North America, although it's expecting a new shipment soon.
Speaking to Reuters, Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly said the company had "pretty much run out" of PS4 units already.
"We will get new inventory next week. It's a great launch, there is no doubt about that," he added.
The PS4 launched in North America on Friday and is known to have sold through 1 million units in 24 hours. It was Canada's biggest launch to date, too.
Meanwhile, the Xbox One hits today. It's $100 more expensive, but was apparently the biggest launch Australian retailers have ever seen; we'll see how it performs in the UK and US today, and how the PS4 does when it arrives in Europe and selected further territories on November 29.
