Blizzard COO excited by Steam Machines, says only Valve could pull them off

Valve's mission to overhaul PC gaming in the living room could only have been done by the Steam creators, Blizzard COO Paul Sams reckons. He's also very excited by the prospect.

Sams discussed Valve's efforts at BlizzCon, during which World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor was announced. It's the MMO's fifth expansion, but a sixth is already in the works. Get the details through the link.

Speaking with GameSpot Sams said of the Steam Machines, "I'm excited to see what they do, to be honest. Obviously with Steam, they've done great things; they're a talented group. And I would say that if anybody's going to be able to do it, it would be them."

Hes stressed his praise for Valve further, adding, "I think Valve is a really great company. I thinkGabe Newell and his team have consistently and regularly done great stuff, and I think if anybody could do it, they can."

Valve has been discussing its Linux and SteamOS-based Steam Machines a lot recently. It was confirmed that Valve won't make SteamOS-exclusive titles, and that it will not allow the creation of third-party SteamOS controllers.
