Tiger Woods and EA Sports end partnership, next-gen PGA game gets first screen

EA Sports has ended its agreement with golf champion Tiger Woods, and will continue its popular PGA Tour series under a new title.

EA Sports vice president and general manager of golf Daryl Holt broke the news in a post on EA's blog.

"EA Sports and Tiger Woods have also made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger's named PGA Tour golf game. We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors," he wrote.

"Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong."

Holt made a few brief comments about the series's future, commenting that players have asked for more choice and customisation, and that the publisher is taking "a new approach" with the next game, which is already in development for next-gen systems.

Sharing the screenshot and comparison image below, Holt said EA intends to "leverage the best technologies across EA to deliver a stunning and immersive game for mobile and next generation consoles".
