Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut hits Mac, PC this month, free to current owners

Previously exclusive to PlaySation 3 and Vita, The Director's Cut version of Lone Survivor is coming to Mac and PC this month - and won't cost current owners a cent.

In a post on the Superflat Games blog, creator Jasper Byrne confirmed an October 31 release for the Mac and PC version of The Director's Cut.

Rather than release the update as a new version or as DLC, Byrne has elected to give it away as a free title update to the existing version for all purchasers - including through Steam and the Humble Bundle, where it may have cost as little as one cent.

"To offset some of the (quite large) costs of making it, I will be having a small price increase on release, although I’ll be running a sale for the first couple of days so that it’ll still be possible to purchase at the original price before the increase," Byrne added.

The Director's Cut will be coming to GOG in addition to existing vendors, but pricing is yet to be confirmed.

Saved games are fully compatible with the new version, too.

Byrne has been working away on the Mac and PC version for ten months while Curve Studios built the Sony ports.

"I was able to add all the little details which I wasn’t able to squeeze in the first time round, so that I could bring my original vision to you with no compromises, and with them a whole load of new ideas that emerged as I worked on it," he said.
