Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars coming from United Front Games
Sleeping Dogs developer United Front Games has confirmed it is working on a new game set in the same universe as the explosive Hong Kong action effort.
The new game is called Triad Wars, as suggested by a recent trademark application and confirmed in a post on the United Front Games website.
As yet, there's very little information to share beyond the fact that United Front Games is once again partnering with Square Enix on the project, and that more details will be released in 2014.
Although fans are holding out hope for a full sequel to the 2012 open-world action effort, the publisher did say the original did not meet its expectations sales-wise. That said, Tomb Raider didn't either - and that's getting a follow-up.
To tamper your excitement, recall how hyped everyone was for a Deus Ex sequel, which turned out to be an iOS affair - could United Front Games be working on some sort of mobile tie-in? Triad Wars sounds like a heck of a good title for a mobile strategy or social effort. Then again, the Canadian team hasn't produced any mobile games to date, and Deus Ex did get a sequel announcement eventually.
Since wrapping Sleeping Dogs, United Front Games stayed busy by contributing to the development of Tomb Raider. It was spotted hiring for next-gen - obviously.
Released in August 2012, Sleeping Dogs was well-received critically. It began life as an original IP called Black Lotus before Activision picked it up as True Crime: Hong Kong. Square Enix came to the rescue after Activision dropped the project.
