Path of Exile release date set for October, new prestige class detailed
Path of Exile, the free-to-play, action RPG from Grinding Gear Games, will be released later this month the developer has confirmed to Shacknews.
At launch, the game will also contain a new prestige class - the Scion - which is unlocked upon completion of the game.
Other content additions include: six Trigger Gems, three new Skill Gems, a new area called The Library with new monsters with new strategies, another new area called the Sceptre of God which contains an endgame scenario and final boss fight.
"The content we ended up with in beta earlier this year was nice, but it wasn't really a finale," lead designer Chris Wilson told the site. "It had a boss fight at the end and that was cool, but it didn't really have a proper conclusion.
"By adding these six new areas and the boss fights, it lets us actually finish the story we're trying to tell and to have a state where the player finishes and knows that they've conquered the guy who exiled them. The arc is complete."
More story-related content will be released post launch at some point.
Path of Exile went into open beta in January and launches October 23.
