Ubisoft has fired THQ Montreal's Jean-Francois Boivin, according to Désilets
Patrice Désilets has said over Twitter that he wasn't the only developer fired by Ubisoft yesterday.
According to a tweet from Désilets, Jean-Francois Boivin who was a producer and co-worker of his at THQ Montreal, was fired by the firm.
"Thinking of my good friend and producer @JFBoivin who also got fired yesterday," Desilets tweeted. "I'm sharing your support with him…"
Boivin joined Ubisoft in 2005 and worked on the Assassin's Creed franchise before leaving the firm in 2010 to join THQ Montreal alongside Désilets.
Yesterday, Ubisoft confirmed the departure of Désilets, stating that since the firm's acquisition of THQ Montreal in January, the "good faith discussions between Patrice and Ubisoft aimed at aligning Patrice’s and the studio’s visions have been inconclusive. As a result, Patrice has left the studio."
Désilets said his leaving the firm was not his decision, and that Ubisoft’s actions were "baseless and without merit, [and] I intend to fight Ubisoft vigorously for my rights, for my team and for my game.”
During the THQ auction, Ubisoft purchased THQ Montreal along with the two projects led by Désilets – 1666 and Project Underdog.
