Rod Fergusson leaves Irrational after just eight months
Former Gears of War producer Rod Fergusson, who joined Irrational Games to assist with BioShock Infinite, is moving on already.
Speaking with Polygon, Fergusson made it sound as if he'd only ever joined Irrational on a temporary basis.
"During my departure from Epic, I learned that Irrational was in need of a 'closer' to help finish BioShock Infinite. I've been striving for better storytelling in the games I've worked on and I saw this as a great opportunity to learn from Ken and his team on how to build a truly story-driven game," he said.
"I am very proud of the work that I did and of the team and what they were able to accomplish on Infinite. Now with the game shipped successfully, I've done what I set out to do here and now I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life and career."
As for what that next chapter is, Fergusson isn't sure - although which such credits to his name, he probably won't need to look for long.
Fergusson joined Irrational Games in August 2012. A few months later, 2K announced a month's delay to BioShock Infinite, with director Ken Levine confessing that Fergusson had gently pointed out that it need a little more time in the oven.
Both Epic and Irrational games have seen quite a lot of staff moment recently, perhaps due to the natural cycle of development.
