Aliens: Colonial Marines developer issues lay-offs

Aliens: Colonial Marines co-developer Timegate Studios has laid off an unspecified number of staff.

"Today, we had to make the difficult decision to let go of some great game developers," TimeGate president Adel Chaveleh told Polygon.

"This is never easy, and we're doing all we can to assist those developers affected."

Chaveleh implied the cuts are due to TimeGate's preparation for the next-generation transition, but said no "projects and strategic initiatives" have been cancelled as a result.

Polygon's sources said around 25 staff were let go, and that the cuts are related to a publishing contract falling through.

Although this last bit of information must be flagged as a rumour, it's worth noting that TimeGate is believed to have played a major role in the development of Aliens: Colonial Marines, which has not gone down well at all.

Prior to this, TimeGate was best known for the Section 8 series, but also jobbed for F.E.A.R. and strategy property Kohan.
