Star Citizen has raised over $8.1 million in funding

Star Citizen, the space-sim from Chris Roberts has now passed $8 million in funding.
Massively reports that the figure is $1.75 million more than what the project accumulated during its Kickstarter campaign which ended in November 2012.
Over 142,000 pledges have been made with more than $500,000 raised in the last two weeks, and the site has more than 3,400 new accounts.
The grand total is $8,149,878 with Kickstarter contributing $2,134,374 and $6,015,504 contributed through the Roberts Space Industries website.
