Kaz Hirai hints the PS4 will release after Xbox 720

Kaz Hirai has hinted the next PlayStation console will not go on sale before Microsoft launches its Xbox 360 follow up.

When asked about console release cycles, Hirai indicated Sony is waiting for Microsoft to strike first. Speaking to The Times, he said, "why go first when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?"

We've received a lot of next-gen rumours across the last couple of weeks, including the suggestion that PS4 consoles will harness a significant power advantage over the 360's successor.

Is Sony playing it cool with this in mind? Time will tell.
