Pachter: Wii U "negativity" won't affect sales

Wii U will sell like hotcakes despite negative comments from press and industry, industry analyst Michael Pachter believes.

"Negativity overall will never go away so I expect the negativity to continue through the holidays," the Wedbush Morgan analyst said, as reported by NowGamer.

"I don't think this has much impact on the launch and continue to expect launch quantities to be sold out, and reorders to remain sold out through March."

That means Nintendo will shift 5.5 million units by the end of the first quarter of 2013, Pachter predicted, bang on the company's own targets.

"The company probably will ship 3 million by Christmas, and all will be sold out," Pachter added.

The Wii U's US launch reception on November 18 was somewhat mixed, thanks to a hefty day-one firmware update, missing video services, and rumbles of consoles bricked by aborted updates - but plenty of consumers and critics alike seem pretty delighted by it, and stock is thin on the ground.

The Wii U arrives in Europe and Australia on November 30.
