Hawken digital comic series hits today, grants beta access

Indie mech sim Hawken has spawned a comic series, and picking up a digital preview will also give you access to the third beta event.

The comic, called Hakwen: Genesis, is the product Meteor Entertainment and Archaia and will release as a hardcover graphic novel. It was written by Khang Le and Jeremy Barlow and illustrated by Kody Chamberlain, Federico Dallocchio, Nathan Fox, Michael Gaydos, Bagus Hutomo, Sid Kotian, Khang Le, Christopher Moeller, Alex Sanchez, Bill Sienkiewicz and Francisco Ruiz Velasco.

Thanks to a partnership with Comixology, you can check out four preview issues in digital form. The first preview issue, Prelude to Ruin, goes live today for Android, iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire and online; checking it out so will give you a code for guaranteed entry to Hawken's third beta event, which runs November 20 through December 6.

There will be four digital preview issues in total, one per month, but it's not known whether remaining issues will also included bonuses. The full comic is due in March 2013; the free-to-play Hawken goes live in December.
