Resident Evil 6 on-disc DLC will be free

Resident Evil 6's controversial on-disc DLC is free content, with Capcom stating that no premium DLC is included with the retail package.

In a post on Capcom Unity, the publisher detailed two free DLC content updates which will be patched into the horror effort - a super difficult No Hope mode and co-op for Ada's campaign, which will also be made available without having to complete all thee core campaigns.

"Some data of this update is on the disc, but said data is incomplete and requires the actual download to access," the publisher reiterated, adding that other on-dic materials - mercenaries costumes - are residentevil.net unlocks, not paid content.

"Future paid DLC - like the multiplayer modes we revealed a while ago - is not on the disc. We said as much a month ago, but that point may have been lost in the shuffle," the post concludes.

Users datamined the new, free content earlier this week. Capcom's use of on-disc premium DLC for Street Fighter x Tekken was heavily criticised; the publisher promised to rethink its delivery strategy as a result.
