Remember Me: Voice actress revealed, Dontnod responds to voiceover criticism
Remember Me was unveiled as Capcom's new IP at gamescom last week, along with a gameplay presentation hosted by developer Dontnod. The actress playing protagonist Nilin has been revealed, and the studio has responded to backlash over the presentation's cheesy dialogue.
Lead character Nilin will be portrayed by Welsh actor Kezia Burrows, who has starred in several theatre productions and television shows.
However, at Capcom's presentation, you could actually feel air escaping from the demo theatre when Nilin punched through the windshield of a helicopter while bawling, "And now the hunted… becomes the hunter!" It wasn't the best line delivery.
But speaking with Eurogamer, Dontnod's creative director Jean-Maxime Moris deflected the criticism, "I've had the exact opposite comments. I won't deny the fact these comments have been made. I've seen them online. But I've had other people say it was actually very good and well written."
"I don't mind the criticism," Moris continued, "It's constructive and I definitely listen to it. It's stuff we will look at in terms of seeing, okay, how many times does that comment come up? How many times did the opposite comment come up?"
"Bearing in mind most of the time people who log in to post a comment do so to react - that's completely out of the realm of video games," Moris concluded, "more psychology - react to show difference rather than enthusiasm and going with it. There's a fine line between keeping your eyes shut and your ears closed, which is a bad thing, and thinking the second you see a comment or an article, go, we need to change everything."
Remember Me will launch on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 some time in May 2013.
