CS:GO trailer, DOTA 2 docco, hateful sharks and more from Valve GTTV visit
Counter-strike: Global Offensive's pre-launch trailer is upon us; Gabe Newell hopes Windows 8 will be better than he fears; and Half-life 3 is neither a game nor an official thing. All this and more through the break.
During GTTV's visit to Valve yesterday, the developer revealed that Steam Big Picture is getting closer. According to host Geoff Keighley, a beta is expected soon, and Valve has a live demo of the tech, which allows players to hook their computer up to a TV and enjoy a streamlined interface which takes advantage of the big screen.
Gabe Newell spent some time in front of the camera - you can see a slice of it below - during which he was asked about comments he made late last month, describing Windows 8 as a "catastrophe". The outspoken developer said he'd like to be wrong about the OS, given his company's profit margins are affected by whether PCs work properly or not, but still believes it over-complicates matters and will be difficult to work with.
Newell was asked about the mythical Half-Life 3, of course, but Kotaku reports he replied with "I hate sharks". Nobody's yet to discover an AR Game related to the comments, so it's assumed to have been a throwaway reference to the fact that it's Shark Week and Valve is sick of being asked about the sequel.
Crushing hopes a little further, Newell didn't reveal the rumoured Half-life movie, either; instead, he unveiled a documentary about DOTA 2. There's a trailer for that below, too.
And finally, while you're watching things, check out a cinematic teaser trailer for Counter-strike: Global Offensive, which arrives on August 21 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
