Black Ops 2 multiplayer doesn't include the '80s era
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 multiplayer is purely set in 2025 and will not include any gameplay elements from the 1980s sections of the campaign, Treyarch's David Vonderhaar has confirmed.
At a behind closed door event in Cologne ahead of Gamescom 2012, game design director Vonderhaar explained the future focus, saying that it gave his team a bigger sandbox to play with, which in urn led to the creation of over 100 pieces of kit, some highly advanced Score Streak rewards and tons of gadgets to use.
We've written up a huge Black Ops 2 multiplayer hands-on preview right here, but some of the advanced weaponry you'll use are Guardian turrets that emit a wave of heat, cooking anyone who gets caught in it.
There are also Dragonfire quadrotors, AI turrets, a Black Hat PDA that can be used to hack enemy gear and turn it against them.
Hellstorm Missiles are like Predators in MW3, but can be detonated above the map to create a cluster bomb effect over a wide area. Hunter Killer drones are small glider-sized planes that you throw. They then circle above the map and nose dive into the nearest enemy.
The future tech definitely makes Black Ops 2 more fun. You can also see it in action in our hands-on gameplay footage.
