Darksiders 2 Crucible mode adds 100 waves of survival combat
Darksiders 2 has several life-extending options once you've trundled through the enormous main quest, including a New Game+ mode and the arena-style combat of the Crucible.
The Crucible is unlocked progressively as the player completes the main quest; visiting the Tome stone - a messaging system used to trade and gift equipment or receive exclusive content - occasionaly yields a tarot card, which unlocks another set of challenges. The arena survival challenge offers 100 stages in total, with players able to opt out with a prize after every five.
It's quite hard and should keep you going for a while, but once that's done and dusted, you could always try the New Game+ mode, which sends you out to repeat your adventure with all progress, customisations and equipment intact.
IGN has cobbled together some gameplay footage of the Crucible; check it out below some new screens. Darksiders 2 arrives on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next week, with a Wii U version expected at a later date.
