Domain drain: Microsoft secures "Xbox 8" rights

As noted by Fusible, Microsoft has won two disputes filed in May with the National Arbitration Forum over a batch of Xbox-related domains, including XboxPhone.com, XboxTablet.com, XboxLiveTV.com, XboxCompanion.com, Xbox8.us and Xbox8.org.

The Xbox8 domains are leading to speculation that it may be the name of the next Xbox. Microsoft took them back from a China resident named “Cheng Juan”.

Some basic checking shows that Microsoft doesn't own Xbox8.co.uk - "Zuo Pan" has it - and that at least three straight Xbox8 domains are still available.

Which kind of suggests there's something not right about this.

If you fancied a go on XboxEight domains, there's tons of them. Well, there's a few less now. We just bought xboxeight.co.uk and xboxeight.net, just in case.
