Pikmin 3 announced, gameplay involves managing up to 100 Pikmin

Pikmin 3 is real. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, at long last, announced the game during Nintendo's E3 press conference.

This is the first, original entry in the Pikmin franchise in nearly eight years.

The enhanced resolution of Wii U has solved a camera problem for Pikmin 3, with a new Pikmin which is a rock type Pikmin.

Players can use the GamePad to view the map more effectively and control up to four leaders for greater strategy. The Wii U GamePad creates real-time strategy options through a reinvented control scheme.

Pikmin 3 also takes advantage of the HD capabilities of Wii U to more elaborately depict the landscapes, various creatures and the Pikmin. Olmar wasn't shown as a leader for secret reasons secret.

There will also be various modes, such as Challenge Mode.
