Epic: Unreal Engine 4 set to last for a decade
The latest issue of Game Informer has some new info on Unreal Engine 4, with Epic stating its looking to have the new engine be about for at least a decade
The magazine mentioned that Epic worked with Intel, AMD NVIDIA and QualComm to plan out the tech's road map. It added it was hoping to release dev kits to developers soon.
UE4 will also include new lens flare tech that happens dynamically whenever used.
Epic said to GI it hoped Unreal 4 will "empower game designer to take charge of as much of the game production process as possible," adding the next hardware cycle will "be about alot of things besides just next-gen graphics performance."
Epic is planning for Unreal 4's lifecycle to last around a decade, beginning with the launch of the next-gen systems.
There's more details on GAF. GTTV is set to show the tech demo that was mentioned in the Wired and GI reports this Thursday. There's a tease of it and a small chat with Cliff Bleszinski here.
