GSC: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 still on track, no date yet
GSC has yet again moved to assure fans that work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is still ongoing.
The Ukranian developer said in a tweet today: "To answer the multitude of questions we've been getting, #Stalker2 is currently in development, yes. However there is no release date yet."
It was reported before Christmas that GSC was on the verge of closure, and that staff would be paid until the end of February but that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 had been canned.
However, GSC made a statement in mid-January to say work was continuing on the game.
Optimism remained cautious at the time, as GSC spokesperson Oleg Yavorsky said: "We are still in the process of seeking funding to back up the project. We are hopeful things turn out well eventually. The team really wants to see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. continue."
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is supposedly releasing this year for PC, PS3 and 360.
A first-person shooting role-playing hybrid, the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl was published in 2007 and has since become a cult hit.
Prequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat released in 2008 and 2010 respectively.
