Recruitment outs new Square Enix 1st Production Department title
Square Enix's core development team is working on a new action RPG for PlayStation 3 and Vita.
Andriasang has translated a pair of job listings recruiting for Square Enix's 1st Production Department, the internal team behind Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.
Some details of the job descriptions give a few clues; one calls for a designer of "player character growth and customization, including job properties, ability properties, a growth system, and a customization system", suggesting a traditional JRPG progression system.
The other is looking for someone to develop field gameplay, and makes mention of flying an airship over a world map, and planning gameplay for within an air ship, using inns, customisation and checking progress.
The game is apparently being developed on Unity, a relatively young 3D engine which is rapidly gaining popularity. The tech has wide application and offers few hints to the game's content; titles built on Unity include Battlestar Galactica Online, Desktop Dungeons, The Graveyard, King's Bounty: Legions, Runespell, Shadowgun and Sucker Punch.
The new game appears to be unrelated to another Unreal-powered action RPG for PS3 and Xbox 360 recently featured as art posted to a recruiting site, having been confirmed by Famitsu.
Square Enix has indicated it wants to flesh out is IP portfolio to ten profitable franchises, some of which will be brand new.
