Gibeau hints at Mirror's Edge, Frostbite 2 combo
EA Games boss Frank Gibeau has said, once again, that Mirror's Edge hasn't been killed off, but also teased a possible combo with its sequel and Frostbite 2.
"We're actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way. We love that franchise. The DICE guys really created something I think special the first time around. You've got to have a big idea to be able to do the next one and that's what we're working on," he told GTTV.
Asked about Frostbite 2 and ME, he said that "you'll see that combination, I'm sure."
Parkour-based Mirror's Edge, made by DICE, launched back in 2008 to critical acclaim, but didn't achieve big sales as expected despite selling 2 million units as of last October. Gibeau had previously said it "fell short."
Development on Mirror's Edge 2 was confirmed way back in 2009, but has since stalled.
Frostbite 2, meanwhile, is the engine being used at DICE for Battlefield 3. Need for Speed: The Run, being made at Blackbox, is also using it.
