World of Tanks open beta announced
World of Tanks, the WWII action-strategy-MMO-hybrid thing, has had such roaring success in closed beta that those of us not in it are battering at the doors and howling for entrance. Thank the stars that the open beta has finally been dated!
The game opens to all comers on January 27, and although there's no details on how to register, you can still pop your details into the closed beta application form, which presumably gives you a head start in creating an account next week.
The beta was announced via the game's official website, along with a number of delightful statistics.
During the six month beta over 260,000 players fought 2 million battles, destroying 40 million vehicles and occasionally managing 20,000 simultaneous log-ins.
Previously announced records include 74,000 players registered to one server; one million registrations in just two months; and half a million players in Russia alone.
Thanks, Massively.
