Gearbox sets record straight on alleged Aliens: Colonial Marines delay

Internet: [shouting] "Hey everyone, did you hear what Randy Pitchford said about Aliens: Colonial Marines?"

[Everyone stares forward in silent horror]

Internet: "Oh god... He's right behind me, isn't he?"

Time for another exciting game of misinformation telephone. Destructoid heard from NeoGAF who heard from a barely released issue of EGM that Aliens: Colonial Marines won't be bursting out of Gearbox's collective chest this year. However, Randy Pitchford - the alleged horse's mouth in this whole stampede of slip-ups - told Eurogamer that he said no such thing.

"I am certain that I haven't discussed anything specific regarding Aliens: Colonial Marines with anyone beyond emphasising how passionate I am about the title and how committed my studio and I are to making it great," he explained.

"It looks to me like whomever made that post on NeoGAF made an interpretation that could be misleading or inaccurate."

So then, if that's the case, why the wait? Surely we'll hear more soon, right? "Very soon," says Pitchford.

"I am excited that there is so much interest in the game that stories like this tend to pop up literally out of nowhere and from nothing, and I am looking forward to talking more about Aliens: Colonial Marines very soon so that speculation and arbitrariness can be replaced with tangible, reliable and accurate information."

Well, that's that. At least, until the next time someone makes a slightly provocative post on NeoGAF, which will happen in - oh- 12 seconds ago.
