Kojima: Zone of the Enders 3 on hold

Heartbreaking news, kids: Zone of the Enders 3 is on hold, according to Hideo Kojima.

The reason it's on hold is to focus on the game that would be considered "taboo" - you know, the secret project that may make him leave the games industry.

"Regarding ZOE3, there's been various things, so it's been sort of pushed to the back," Kojima revealed in a live UStream for a Paris hotel room while on his European tour to promote Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

He had already promised the game last year, and had teased earlier in the year that pre-development had begun.

As for the secret taboo project, he said that it would be for "high spec machines", which he later clarified were consoles. We'll go ahead and assume he means PS3 and 360, then.

On the subject of Metal Gear Solid: Rising - of which, the first details emerged out of Konami's E3 presser last night - Kojima wouldn't comment on it as it wasn't his project anymore.

It was announced on Monday he had stepped aside as producer and appointed Shigenobu Matsuyama into the role, while Minesh Kimura will be directing the game. But Kojima will still supervise on the project.

Watch an archive of the video over at Andriasang. Watch from two minutes in as Kojima starts getting a shoulder massage. Lovely.
