GameStop: Modern Warfare 2 will be "biggest entertainment launch of all time"

Looks like retailers are gearing up for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and it's gonna be big folks. We're talking riot inducing big. People stepping over old ladies and children to get their hands on a copy - Costanza style.

According to GameStop's VP of merchandising, Tony Bartel, preorders for the title exceeded all expectations and he predicts a massive launch.

"By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time," said Bartel. "As of today, the number of preorder reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network."

To get ready for the mad dash through the doors, GameStop's holding midnight launches at its stores, and so is Walmart, where more than 2,600 locations have supplies of the game at ready to sell once 12:01am strikes on Tuesday.

The first 20 customers in line at participating Walmart stores even get an autographed game cover signed by the Infinity Ward team.

Amazon's upping the ante a bit more, giving the city in America with the most preorders a $5,000 donation to its local charity.
